Process mechanic for plastic and rubber technology, specialising in moulded parts

Machine operator and fitter of state-of-the-art CNC-controlled injection moulding machines from the companies DEMAG, ARBURG and ENGEL

The apprenticeship begins in the month of September. The apprenticeship lasts for 3 years.

Intensive training sessions are held in the Berufsschulzentrum für Technik / Vocational Training Centre for Technology in Radeberg (accommodation available). These take the form of two-week courses, attended 6-7 times throughout the year, with the remainder of the time dedicated to practical training within the company.

Special training content, relating, for example, to the welding of plastics, programming, pneumatics, electro-pneumatics and hydraulics, and additional qualifications (authorisation to use lifting equipment) are taught outside the company within the Vocational Training Network (Ausbildungsverbund).


Training content:

1st year of training
  • Moving between all production areas
  • Occupational safety, quality control and environmental protection in accordance with the certified operational management system

2nd year of training
  • Practical training delivered within the 2-shift system (from 18 years of age: deployment within the 3-shift system possible)
  • Practical midterm examination, whereby an object is manufactured independently, from plastic and metal, according to the specifications of a technical drawing
  • Theoretical midterm examination at the Vocational College in Radeberg

3rd year of training
  • Enhancement of acquired knowledge and skills
  • Theoretical final written examination on the key topics of process mechanics, technical communication, economics and social studies
  • Practical training examination on the key topics of material and machine preparation, the clamping of an injection mould, programming, fitting and operating a CNC-controlled injection moulding machine, optimisation of processes and quality inspections of the manufactured precision parts
